The Gia Lai Provincial Government has recently approved a large-scale ecotourism development blueprint for Kon Ka Kinh National Park and Kon Chư Răng Nature Reserve. This strategic move is designed to transform the conservation areas into professional tourist destinations that prioritize ecosystem sustainability principles and economic self-sufficiency for forest management.
The project at Kon Ka Kinh National Park focuses on constructing me-supporting infrastructure, such as animal rescue centers and botanical gardens, targeting investment to achieve up to 80% conservation funding self-sufficiency by 2045. In line with this, Kon Chư Răng Nature Reserve is projected to become a premium ecotourism hub targeting a significant influx of international tourists and achieving full financial independence through tourism revenue and forest environmental leases.
This development includes utilizing existing forest patrol routes for tourism access, featuring a total of 17 tourist locations and trails spanning hundreds of kilometers across both areas. Management emphasized that facility construction must use eco-friendly materials and strictly adhere to operational standards to ensure no negative impact on biodiversity.
In its implementation, the provincial government promotes the adoption of a 'zero-carbon' tourism model, including the use of renewable energy and electric vehicles within the tourist areas. Substantial capital support, largely sourced from social partnerships and private sector investments, is expected to create hundreds of new jobs while sustainably strengthening the protection of Gia Lai's natural heritage.
