The city of Bandung is preparing to host a prestigious sports event, the GRIB Jaya Bandung Boxing Camp 2026 Mayor's Cup. Scheduled to take place from July 8 to 12, 2026, the championship is designed as a platform for athlete development while offering a display of sportsmanship for the general public.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Prana Yogaswara, stated that all technical preparations have been completed. The event series will open with a technical session on July 8, followed by intensive bouts held daily from 09:00 to 22:00 WIB over four match days.
This year's match format is quite unique, dividing participants into two categories. For non-athlete boxing enthusiasts, the organizers are providing sparring sessions, while for the official athlete category, the competition will feature various classes ranging from School Boy to Elite. The format requiring all participants to compete daily is projected to create a more vibrant and engaging competitive atmosphere for spectators.
In addition to ring action, the organizers ensure visitor comfort with very affordable ticket prices at Rp30,000, which includes light refreshments. At the venue, visitors can also enjoy a culinary and souvenir bazaar featuring local MSMEs to enliven the championship atmosphere.
This event is the result of a strategic collaboration between the Bandung City Government, Youth and Sports Department (Dispora), Labkum Pers Bandung City, and PWI Bandung City. With full support from various industrial sectors, this championship is expected to serve as a stepping stone for talented boxers from Bandung to achieve success at national and regional levels.
