The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government demonstrated a concrete commitment to improving public welfare on the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of Pulang Pisau Regency. The Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, officially opened the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) and free health check-up services centered at H.M. Sanusi Stadium, Pulang Pisau, on Saturday (11/7/2026).
This program is specifically designed to alleviate the economic burden on vulnerable communities, including low-grade civil servants, honorary workers, laborers, fishermen, and farmers. Through a government subsidy scheme, the public can access basic necessities at much more affordable prices amid current economic dynamics.
Governor Agustiar Sabran emphasized that regional budget efficiency will not deter the government from executing programs that directly touch citizens' basic needs. He committed to ensuring that development in Central Kalimantan progresses evenly, so that the benefits of government policies can be felt equally in both the provincial capital and other regencies.
In addition to food assistance, the regional government is also optimizing the implementation of the Huma Betang Sejahtera Card (KHBS). This program serves as the main gateway for Pulang Pisau residents to access ID card-based healthcare services, educational assistance, and various economic empowerment programs. To date, thousands of local residents have been registered as beneficiaries of the program.
In the human resource development sector, Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan, Edy Pratowo, added that the government has also launched a state-funded 1-year diploma (D1) vocational program in agriculture. This initiative is prepared to produce experts who will later join the Food Brigade to strengthen food self-sufficiency and security in the Central Kalimantan region.
