A tragic story befell a Cessna C-172 Skyhawk trainer aircraft belonging to PT Nusa Flying International School, which lost contact while on a flight training mission from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to Cakrabuana Air Force Base, Cirebon, on November 16, 2011. The aircraft, registered as PK-NIP, carried three people on board: flight instructor Captain Partogi Sianipar and two student pilots, Muhammad Fikriansyah and Agung Febrian.
A massive search effort was immediately launched, involving a joint SAR team, TNI-Polri personnel, and hundreds of volunteers. Extremely harsh terrain, consisting of steep ravines covered in thick fog in the Mount Ciremai area, posed the main obstacle for the ground team. A breakthrough finally came after nearly two weeks of searching, specifically on November 28, 2011, when residents of Argalingga Village discovered wing and tail fragments of the aircraft in the Kawah Burung area at an altitude of 7,500 feet.
After being confirmed as parts of the missing plane, the SAR team immediately pushed forward into the hard-to-reach location. The aircraft wreckage was found destroyed and lodged on the edge of a ravine. Tragically, all three occupants were confirmed dead in the crash. The body of the first victim was found still inside the cockpit, while the other two were found near the wreckage site.
The evacuation process, which took about six hours, unfolded dramatically due to the steep terrain and adverse weather. After being successfully evacuated, the victims' bodies were initially taken to Majalengka Regional General Hospital before being flown to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to be handed over to their families on November 30, 2011.
