The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has officially issued strict instructions to all provincial health offices and hospitals licensed for organ transplants across the country. This step was taken following findings by the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, which revealed that several medical facilities were independently and arbitrarily conducting donor coordination outside applicable legal provisions.
In accordance with national regulations, all donor coordination activities, waiting list management, and organ transport must be conducted under the control of the National Human Organ Transplant Coordination Center. This policy is implemented to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of donor organs, allowing allocation to be carried out optimally and efficiently.
In its written instructions, the Ministry of Health requires hospitals to review all verification procedures, especially those involving living donors. Every medical facility is warned that they will bear full legal responsibility if violations in donor coordination are found within their respective working areas. Regional governments have also been asked to enhance oversight and conduct routine inspections in every healthcare service unit.
The donor organ allocation system is now ensured to adhere strictly to principles of openness. Priority criteria continue to favor children, emergency patients, and those with high biological compatibility according to the order of the national waiting list. This measure is part of the government's commitment to improving the integrity of transplant services across 32 accredited referral hospitals nationwide.
