The Jember Regency Government continues to intensify direct-to-home health services through an innovative homecare program. As part of the "Bunga Desaku" agenda in Rambipuji District, the Regent of Jember, Muhammad Fawait, personally led a health review for underprivileged families with indications of stunting and high-risk pregnant women in Curahmluwo Hamlet, Rowotamtu Village.
During the visit, the Regent, affectionately known as Gus Fawait, accompanied healthcare workers to conduct on-site medical check-ups. To optimize the management of high-risk pregnant women, the medical team in the field also utilized telemedicine technology to consult directly with obstetrics and gynecology specialists to obtain rapid and accurate treatment recommendations.
Gus Fawait emphasized that health monitoring for these vulnerable citizens will be carried out routinely every month. He also reminded medical personnel to maintain humane communication and avoid using overly technical medical terms so as not to cause panic among the patients' families, ensuring the assistance process runs comfortably.
In addition to health interventions, the Jember Regency Government is committed to renovating uninhabitable homes owned by local residents. This integrated step is seen as a concrete effort in eradicating extreme poverty, aligning with the Asta Cita program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
To ensure the sustainability of the program, this homecare service will be synergized with village-level posyandu (integrated health post) cadres, Social Services volunteers, and various other related elements. Although this program is still in its early stages and requires refinement, Gus Fawait is optimistic that the presence of this "family doctor" concept can facilitate quick, easy, and equitable access to health services for poor communities.
