The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, underlined the urgency of redefining nationalism in the 21st century. According to him, today's national spirit is not enough to be interpreted merely as unity, but must be concretely manifested through the strengthening of the national economic and technological foundations.
This statement was delivered by Nusron during his address to hundreds of participants of the Primary Training of the National Student Movement (GMPK) in Bogor, West Java. He emphasized that in facing increasingly fierce global competition, Indonesia must absolutely be sovereign in three key sectors: food security, energy independence, and the mastery of cutting-edge technology.
Referring to the perspective of international relations, Nusron warned that dependence on external parties in these three sectors could threaten Indonesia's bargaining position on the world stage. Therefore, he invited the younger generation, especially students, to focus on increasing intellectual capacity to be able to win the economic war and geopolitical influence in the future.
In addition to mastering technical aspects, Minister Nusron also emphasized the importance of developing superior and highly critical human resources. He believes that students hold a strategic role as agents of change who will eventually take the reins of leadership in various sectors, whether as bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, or professionals.
In closing, he encouraged the younger generation to always align their academic abilities with a national commitment. Innovation combined with integrity is considered the key to leading the Indonesian nation to become a resilient country capable of independently meeting the challenges of the times.
