The Provincial Sports Congress (Musorprov) of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of South Kalimantan was officially opened in Banjarmasin on Saturday (4/7/2026). This strategic forum determines the direction of sports policy and development in Banua for the 2026–2030 term, while also serving as an arena for organizational leadership regeneration.

Attending the opening were the Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan, Hasnuryadi Sulaiman, alongside the Deputy Chairman II of Central KONI, Major General of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Ret.) Soedarmo. The event was also attended by members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Head of the Youth and Sports Department (Dispora) of South Kalimantan, and KONI representatives from all regencies/cities in South Kalimantan.

In his address, Hasnuryadi Sulaiman emphasized the importance of continuity in achievements. He expressed hope that the newly formed committee would be able to guide local athletes to compete at both national and international levels. The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is fully committed to supporting all efforts to improve the quality of sports development to bring pride to the region.

Deputy Chairman II of Central KONI, Soedarmo, appreciated KONI South Kalimantan's success in improving its ranking at the National Sports Week (PON), jumping sharply from 24th to 15th place. According to him, this achievement is clear evidence of the hard work and dedication of the previous committee.

In addition to electing a general chairperson, this supreme forum officially approved two new sports disciplines, Orado and Savate, as members of KONI South Kalimantan. Furthermore, it was decided that Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) Regency will officially host the South Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in 2029.
