The Bengkulu City Government is preparing a major project to build outdoor sports facilities spread across all sub-districts in the region. This step is being taken as part of the local government's commitment to bringing public facilities closer to the community while promoting a healthy lifestyle on a wider scale.

Head of the Bengkulu City Youth and Sports Office (Dispora), Eka Saputra, explained that this sports infrastructure distribution program is targeted to reach 67 sub-districts across nine districts. This strategic plan is proposed for inclusion in the Bengkulu City Regional Budget (APBD) for the 2027 fiscal year.

To ensure the plan is well-targeted, Dispora has deployed a special team to conduct on-site feasibility surveys. This direct inspection aims to identify potential land that best suits the needs of local residents. The survey data will then be used as a reference to draft the budget plan before it is submitted to the local government's budget team.

Eka added that the construction of these sports facilities prioritizes three of the community's favorite sports: badminton, volleyball, and football. In addition to motivating residents to stay active without distance barriers, these facilities are expected to serve as a platform for early childhood training to scout talented young athletes ready to represent the region on the national stage.
