PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) has officially taken a strategic step to expand its business portfolio in the energy infrastructure sector. This move is realized through a plan to construct a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility with an investment value reaching US$ 319.69 million.

This ambitious project is managed through PT Andalanesa Energi Primer, a joint venture company formed by AKRA, PT Arthakencana Rayatama, and BW FSRU VII Pte., Ltd. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a contract to build the facility with South Korean industrial giant HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.

AKRA management targets that the presence of this FSRU infrastructure will serve as a main pillar in strengthening the ecosystem of the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) Special Economic Zone. The facility is projected not only to support the energy needs of the industrial area, but also to function as an engine driving recurring income for the company in the future.

This expansion step is seen as a concrete effort by the company to maintain performance stability amid global energy market dynamics. By integrating LNG infrastructure into the JIIPE ecosystem, AKRA is optimistic about securing long-term growth while enhancing the added value for the industrial estate it manages.
