The Ho Chi Minh City Government is taking a significant step in ensuring the welfare of children in orphanages and social welfare facilities. Through a comprehensive collaboration between the Department of Health and the Youth Volunteer Force, access to medical services is now systematically expanded to reach children with special health needs and disabilities.
The Director of Thu Duc Youth Village, Nguyen Huu Tai, welcomed this initiative. According to him, the lack of facilities and medical personnel has so far been the main obstacle in providing optimal healthcare. With this integration with hospitals, local staff will receive professional guidance to monitor children's medical development routinely and accurately.
Under this cooperation scheme, hospitals are instructed to provide routine health check-up services, medical record management, medicine supply, and emergency transportation readiness. For instance, Go Vap General Hospital is now tasked with providing full support to SOS Village Go Vap, including training orphanage caregivers to properly respond to emergency conditions.
The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Nguyen Tang Minh, emphasized that this policy is a testament to the city's commitment to fulfilling children's fundamental rights to proper healthcare. The coordination procedures currently being drafted aim to bring health facilities closer to vulnerable groups, so that efforts to protect and develop children's potential can be more sustainable.
This step brings new hope to children in welfare facilities. For them, the regular presence of medical teams is not just a form of physical treatment, but a guarantee of safety, ensuring that their developmental needs receive serious attention from the government and professionals despite the existing limitations.
