The Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) of North Central Timor (TTU) Regency officially launched its inaugural health seminar titled 'First Timor Health Update I'. The event, which took place at the Livero Hotel Hall, Kefamenanu, on Saturday (11/7/2026), carried the important theme of early detection, diagnosis, and disease management in regions with limited health resources.
The Chairman of IDI TTU Regency, dr. Sondang Erikson Panjaitan, revealed that this event is a milestone for the medical world in the Timor region. The seminar was not only attended by doctors from TTU but also involved medical personnel from Belu, Malaka, and South Central Timor (TTS) regencies.
Dr. Sondang stated that this initiative was born out of a desire to bring access to the latest medical science closer to health practitioners serving in remote areas. Until now, updates in medical knowledge tended to be centralized in major cities like Kupang or Bali, so the presence of this event is expected to reduce distance and improve time efficiency for doctors in border areas.
He hopes this forum can become an annual agenda held rotationally in various areas of Timor Island, such as Atambua, Malaka, and Soe. Through this collaboration among doctors, clinical competence in handling emergency cases in community health centers (puskesmas) and regional hospitals is expected to increase significantly.
In addition to presenting scientific material from expert speakers, this event also serves as a platform to strengthen professional networks among healthcare workers. By strengthening collaboration and enhancing clinical skills, healthcare services for the community at the forefront of the border region are expected to become increasingly optimal and responsive to patient needs.
