President Prabowo Subianto has officially expressed full support for the Indian government's plan to establish higher education institutions in Indonesia. This strategic plan focuses on developing expertise in management and technology as a concrete manifestation of strengthening bilateral relations between Jakarta and New Delhi.
This statement was delivered directly by President Prabowo during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/7). The cooperation includes the establishment of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), which are projected to serve as catalysts for improving the quality of human resources in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that this initiative is a strategic step given the dominance of technology in the 21st century. He expressed optimism that the presence of IIM Bangalore in Indonesia will not only harness the potential of local youth but also become a center of management excellence for young people across the Southeast Asian region.
In addition to physical campus construction, both leaders agreed to expand student exchange programs to enhance cross-border academic interaction. This step is expected to be implemented soon so that the benefits can be directly felt by the people of both nations.
As part of this series of cooperation, Indonesia and India also agreed to accelerate the digital innovation sector. The agreement covers the development of artificial intelligence (AI), strengthening the telecommunications sector, and supporting the startup ecosystem, in a joint effort to win future tech-based economic competition.
