Government efforts to expand the use of biofuels continue to show significant progress. The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that six major fuel distributors are scheduled to join the E10 gasoline blending and distribution program starting this July. This step was taken in response to Government Decree No. 29/2026, which aims to address bottlenecks in the clean energy supply chain.
Dr. Dang Tat Thanh from the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation, and Industrial Promotion explained that the stability of the E10 gasoline market currently remains well-maintained. Domestic ethanol supply support will also grow stronger with the planned operation of two new ethanol plants between July and August, supplementing the three plants already in operation.
Data as of June 28, 2026, shows the success of the fuel transition, with E10 gasoline consumption reaching 924 million liters, or more than 96 percent of the total national bioethanol consumption. This high figure proves that the public has begun accepting E10 gasoline for their regular vehicle needs.
To facilitate consumers, the government has also launched the digital application "Around Me". This platform is designed to make it easier for users to locate gas stations that still provide E5 gasoline, which is currently supplied by 11 out of a total of 26 major distributors across the country.
