This innovation is claimed to achieve highly precise short-term fractional frequency stability of 1 × 10⁻¹³ at a one-second interval. The technology is designed to serve as a foundation for developing compact, chip-scale timing systems.
The development of this device comes at a crucial time amid growing challenges to global navigation infrastructure. Various agencies, including the U.S. Government Accountability Office, have highlighted the vulnerability of GPS services to cyber risks, signal jamming, and data spoofing. Quantum X Labs' atomic clock technology is expected to provide a solution for defense, telecommunications, and autonomous systems sectors requiring high timing accuracy when GPS access is unavailable.
Prof. Nir Sharon, Chief Scientist at Quantum X Labs, emphasized that this atomic clock is an integral part of the company's broader quantum sensing strategy. Beyond atomic clocks, the company is currently focusing on developing optical gyroscopes and inertial sensing technology to strengthen their portfolio of quantum solutions across various industrial sectors.
