The strategic partnership in strengthening the maternal and child health (MCH) sector in Siak Regency has yielded positive results. The KAPASITAS Program, a collaborative initiative that has been running for the past year, successfully revitalized the quality of medical services in five local community health centers (puskesmas), while reinforcing stunting prevention efforts at the grassroots level.
This program is a collaboration between the Siak Regency Government, PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP)—which is part of the APRIL Group—and the humanitarian organization DokterSHARE. The evaluation of the program's achievements was officially presented at the Dissemination of Results and Closing Ceremony of the KAPASITAS Program held in Siak Regency.
Since its launch, the program has focused on intensive mentoring for the Dayun, Kerinci Kanan, Lubuk Dalam, Koto Gasib, and Sungai Mandau health centers, as well as covering 13 auxiliary health centers (Pustu). Efforts included competency training for healthcare workers, optimization of medical referral systems, provision of supporting facilities such as ultrasound (USG) machines, and the empowerment of Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres at the village level.
Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in service standards. Based on facilitative supervision assessments, the service compliance rate across all partner health centers exceeded 90 percent. Dayun and Lubuk Dalam health centers recorded the highest compliance at 98.90 percent, followed by Koto Gasib (97.06 percent), Kerinci Kanan (97.05 percent), and Sungai Mandau (95.96 percent).
The Head of the Siak Regency Health, Population Control, and Family Planning Agency, dr. Handry, appreciated the business sector's contribution to supporting government programs. He emphasized that the donation of medical devices like ultrasound machines greatly helps in the early detection of pregnant women's health to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Echoing this, the Expert Staff to the Regent of Siak for Community and Human Resources, Fakhrurrozi, expressed hope that similar programs could be replicated in other health centers in the Siak region.
Meanwhile, RAPP Community Development Strategic Planning Manager, Amal Fatullah Randy, explained that this commitment aligns with the company's 5C philosophy (Community, Country, Climate, Customer, Company). The KAPASITAS program is also part of the Puskesmas Prima initiative, which targets mentoring for 43 health centers in four regencies in Riau, to realize independent and sustainable primary healthcare services.
