The Regional Disaster Management and Fire Rescue Agency (BPBD-PK) of Pandeglang Regency has taken proactive steps by deploying personnel to the Labuan Post. This action was taken in response to the escalation of Mount Anak Krakatau's (GAK) volcanic activity status to Level III or Alert.
Secretary of BPBD-PK Pandeglang, Nana Mulyana, explained that the deployed team will conduct 24-hour monitoring in shifts. This step is a form of intensive coordination with the provincial government and relevant agencies to strengthen early mitigation and anticipation systems against potential threats that could impact the coastal areas of the Sunda Strait.
In accordance with the Alert status regulations, relevant authorities prohibit the public, fishermen, and tourists from engaging in activities within a three-kilometer radius of the active crater. This restriction is implemented to avoid risks from volcanic material ejection and increased eruptions that could occur at any time.
In addition to tightening supervision, the Pandeglang BPBD urged residents to remain calm and not be easily provoked by unverified rumors. The public is asked to always monitor the latest developments through official information channels issued by BMKG and PVMBG.
Nana emphasized that the local government is committed to continuously monitoring the situation on the ground on a regular basis. This is done to ensure that mitigation and evacuation measures can be taken immediately should there be a significant change in volcanic activity that threatens public safety.
