The Indonesian Tax Consultants Association (IKPI), together with PT RAD Indonesia, launched a strategic initiative through a webinar titled "Competency Investment for Professional Tax Consultants" on Friday (3/7/2026). This step was taken as a response to the rapid changes in the national and global taxation landscape, which is currently influenced by digitalization and advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
IKPI Secretary General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Edy Gunawan, emphasized that in the modern era, the business world needs tax consultants who are more than just regulatory experts. Consultants are expected to transform into Strategic Business Advisors who are capable of understanding financial statements, risk management, and corporate governance in order to provide strategic solutions for clients.
"Competency enhancement must be viewed as an intellectual asset whose value continues to grow. We encourage members to pursue international certifications, such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA), to gain a comprehensive perspective in business decision-making," Edy said.
Edy added that international certification is not merely an extra title, but an instrument to strengthen the position of tax consultants as strategic corporate partners. With cross-disciplinary insights such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and data analysis, a consultant can provide value-added recommendations while ensuring that tax compliance is maintained sustainably.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of integrity in this trust-based profession. According to Edy, technical competence must be coupled with professional ethics to provide legal certainty, fairness, and benefit for taxpayers and the state. This is expected to build a culture of voluntary tax compliance in society.
Through collaboration with RAD Indonesia, IKPI reaffirms its commitment to producing tax consultants who are adaptive, possess high integrity, and are able to compete on the international stage. Investment in human resource development remains the organization's top priority in supporting transparent and credible national economic development.
