A tragic fire incident struck the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub located in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, on Sunday (12/7/2026) night. The disaster, which occurred shortly before midnight, resulted in 27 people being declared dead at the scene.
In addition to the fatalities, local authorities reported that 63 people were rushed to various hospitals around Bangkok. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt confirmed that 22 of the injured victims are currently receiving intensive care due to their critical condition.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene directly to monitor the evacuation process. Authorities are currently still working to identify the victims, given that many patrons were not carrying identity documents when the incident occurred.
Statements from survivors revealed that thick clouds of smoke engulfed the pub area very quickly, triggering mass panic. Many visitors attempted to escape to the back area, specifically near the restrooms, but became trapped because the exits were difficult to find in total darkness.
Firefighters deployed to the scene stated that the main factor behind the high fatality rate was massive smoke exposure. Aside from burns, the majority of the victims suffered from acute respiratory distress caused by inhaling toxic smoke that filled the entire room in a short time.
