PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI) is preparing for a major business transformation for the 2026–2030 period. The institution will no longer merely act as a clearing provider for stock transactions, but will expand its scope to become the primary infrastructure connecting the country's capital market and money market.

This strategic move follows the implementation of Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK). President Director of KPEI, Antonius Herman Azwar, emphasized that this repositioning is a response to the dynamics of the national financial industry, which demand expanding the role of the clearing house beyond conventional capital market boundaries.

In its new roadmap, KPEI will fully transform into a Central Counterparty (CCP). Through this new role, the institution will not only handle post-trade administration, but will position itself as an integrated risk management and collateral management hub to minimize potential defaults and enhance financial system stability.

The reliability of KPEI's system was previously recognized by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), providing strong legitimacy to its operational standards being equivalent to European clearing houses. To ensure the success of this integration, KPEI is aligning its work plan with the policies of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia's blueprint, and the master plan of the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, KPEI's board of directors explained that CCP implementation has begun in financial market derivative transactions. KPEI Director of Information Technology and Project Management, Irmawati, added that banking and capital market transaction efficiency will be boosted through shared infrastructure utilization, such as Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) and Triparty Repo.

To maintain a balance between expansion and security, strengthening risk management remains a top priority under the leadership of the new board of directors for the 2026-2030 period. The new management structure, approved at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS), is optimistic about leading KPEI's transformation into a credible, globally standardized financial pillar.
