Between 2016 and 2025, a national initiative to bring science and technology closer to the grassroots produced significant results. More than 550 projects across 34 provinces successfully established 1,400 models for advanced technology application. This step not only included transferring production processes but also provided technical training to tens of thousands of local farmers and workers, proving capable of boosting economic efficiency by an average of 30 percent.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Le Xuan Dinh, emphasized that the success of this program extends beyond mere quantitative figures. The main focus is on how knowledge is transformed into real productivity capable of providing sustainable livelihoods for communities. The integration of technology in sectors such as food crop cultivation and medicinal mushroom production has helped regions strengthen value chains, meet One Commune One Product (OCOP) standards, and penetrate modern distribution markets.
Despite positive achievements, field implementation of the program faces complex challenges, ranging from natural disaster risks to unpredictable market price fluctuations. Furthermore, limited management capacity in local cooperatives and small businesses often clashes with strict financial administration regulations. This creates a gap between practical field needs and current bureaucratic procedures.
Faced with these challenges, the Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to reforming its execution methods. Moving forward, the focus will shift from merely supporting individual models to developing stronger value chains and innovation ecosystems. This transformation is expected to strengthen the position of the agricultural and rural sectors in the national economic landscape, emphasizing technological mastery and appropriate digitalization.
