The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to accelerate digitalization steps in the national manufacturing sector by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This strategic step was taken to boost operational efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic industry in the increasingly competitive global arena.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like AI is no longer just an alternative, but an urgent need for the country's chemical and pharmaceutical industries. According to him, accelerating digital transformation is crucial to drive productivity in priority sectors outlined in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap.
As a concrete implementation, the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) through the Digital Industry Center Indonesia 4.0 (PIDI 4.0) facilitated a Proof of Concept (PoC) program for AI-based digital solutions. This program was run at the production facility of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk by implementing System Invariant Analytics Technology (SIAT), an innovation resulting from the collaboration of PT NEC Indonesia and local partner Bogor Technology.
SIAT technology works by utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to monitor the performance of production machinery in real-time. Through predictive maintenance methods, this system is able to detect potential machine damage earlier, so that the risk of operational failure or downtime can be minimized.
The trial, which took place from April to June 2026, yielded positive results. The evaluation showed that the satisfaction level of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk reached a score of 8 out of 10, with the majority of the project's main targets successfully met. This achievement confirms that the SIAT solution has great potential to be adopted more widely by the national manufacturing industry.
President Director of PT NEC Indonesia, Akifumi Katano, appreciated the success of this trial project as an important milestone for the acceleration of technological innovation in Indonesia. Echoing this, Engineering Group Head of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, Ronald Effendi, stated that the implementation of SIAT provides new space for the company to optimize digital data-based asset management more comprehensively.
Through the success of this synergy, the Ministry of Industry is optimistic that close collaboration between the government, industry players, and technology providers will accelerate the national industry's transition towards a modern era that is sustainable and highly competitive in the international market.
