The Chair of Vietnam's Committee on Science, Technology, and Environment, Nguyen Thanh Hai, recently received a visit from the President of the World University Service (WUS) Germany, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami. This meeting served as a strategic momentum to deepen bilateral relations between Vietnam and Germany, particularly in the fields of research, innovation, and sustainable technology ecosystem development.
During the meeting, Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized the key role of Germany, especially the State of Hesse, as a major partner in the application of science. She expressed hope that future partnerships would not be limited to research projects, but also expand into crucial sectors such as digital transformation, green economic development, and capacity building for globally competitive human resources.
Dr. Kambiz Ghawami welcomed the initiative and expressed admiration for Vietnam's rapid progress in economic and social reforms. He affirmed the readiness of the State of Hesse to facilitate technology exchange, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and applied technology transfer, which have long been strengths of research centers in Germany.
One of the tangible achievements highlighted in the meeting was the success of the Vietnamese-German University in Ho Chi Minh City. This educational institution is considered to have successfully become an important pillar in nurturing high-quality talent, as well as a symbol of the successful educational collaboration between the two nations.
As a follow-up step, both sides committed to maintaining intensive communication. Dr. Kambiz Ghawami promised to act as a bridge to facilitate the exchange of legislative and oversight experiences in science and technology, ensuring that the collaboration delivers concrete impacts for Vietnam's national development in the new era.
