The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Wibowo, gave strategic directions to all ranks of the Traffic Corps and regional police traffic directorates (Ditlantas Polda) regarding future challenges. The main focus highlighted was how the police institution must adapt to the demographic bonus phenomenon and the rapid advancement of technology that has begun to change the structure of public life.
In his direction, Inspector General Wibowo highlighted the two sides of the coin of technological advancement. On one hand, digitalization is considered capable of accelerating public service and information distribution. On the other hand, technology also opens up loopholes for the spread of hoaxes and provocative content that could potentially damage public trust in the National Police institution.
"Technology has now become a basic need for society. However, we are required to be more vigilant against unfounded flows of information and content that is deliberately re-uploaded to steer negative opinions against the institution," said Inspector General Wibowo in his statement, Monday (6/7/2026).
In addition to technological issues, the Head of the Traffic Corps also highlighted the aspect of public behavior on the road. According to him, traffic is a true reflection of a nation's culture. He expressed concern over the still low level of driver compliance, as shown by violations such as driving against the flow of traffic and the misuse of sidewalks by motorized vehicles.
Facing these various challenges, Inspector General Wibowo emphasized the importance of strengthening education and supervision functions in the field. He instructed all ranks not to rely only on law enforcement, but to also be proactive in building an orderly traffic culture to create better safety and order amid the changing times.
