The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) emphasized that accelerating the quality of human resources is the main key for Indonesia to win the technology competition on the global stage. Deputy Minister of Komdigi, Nezar Patria, stated that amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence and shifting structures in the digital industry, talent mastery becomes a decisive element that goes beyond the mere availability of physical infrastructure.
Nezar highlighted Indonesia's major challenge of having long tended to position itself merely as a market or tech user. According to him, the government is committed to changing this narrative by boosting national capacity to actively participate in the technology creation process. This step is seen as crucial for Indonesia to secure a more strategic bargaining position in the highly competitive global technology supply chain.
To realize this vision, the Ministry of Communication and Digital is strengthening strategic collaboration with various universities across the country. Campuses are positioned as main incubators to produce talent relevant to industry needs. One of the concrete initiatives currently being rolled out is the 'AI Talent Factory' program, designed to evenly expand access to digital competency training both inside and outside the island of Java.
Beyond technical skills, this digital talent development also encompasses a deep understanding of technological geopolitical dynamics as well as changes in the global digital economy landscape. With this comprehensive strategy, the government is optimistic about building a resilient innovation ecosystem while enhancing the nation's competitiveness in facing an increasingly complex era of digital disruption.
