Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli emphasized the urgency for Indonesia's younger generation to adapt to the rapid pace of technological development. According to him, the ability to continuously update competencies is an absolute prerequisite for workers to compete in an increasingly dynamic work environment.
In an official statement during the launch of the XLSMART Future Ready program in Jakarta, the Manpower Minister emphasized that the primary focus of today's working world has shifted. He stated that industries currently prioritize practical skills over mere formal educational backgrounds. "Stay relevant and keep upgrading your skills, because the future job market looks for skills, not just diplomas," said Yassierli.
Yassierli added that current employment challenges include mastering cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. Therefore, the Ministry of Manpower is committed to ensuring that no worker is left behind due to technological disruption through the principle of inclusivity, ensuring equal access to training for all the nation's youth.
As a concrete step, the Ministry of Manpower, through the Directorate General of Vocational Training and Productivity (Binalavotas), has entered into a strategic collaboration with XLSMART. This collaboration includes utilizing the facilities of the Vocational Training and Productivity Center (BBPVP) for industry-based curriculum development, Internet of Things (IoT) training, and providing internship and recruitment pathways for participants.
The government hopes that this cross-sector synergy will continue to evolve into concrete action that delivers broad economic impact. The active involvement of the industry is considered a key factor in preparing a competent, competitive workforce ready to face future global job market challenges.
