Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa highlighted the crucial role of civil servants in maintaining the nation's competitiveness amidst an increasingly dynamic global economic landscape. Speaking at a public lecture celebrating the 11th Anniversary of the State Financial Polytechnic (PKN) STAN on Friday (10/7/2026), he stressed that institutional quality and good governance form the main foundation for national economic progress.
According to Purbaya, a country's competitiveness relies not only on natural resources, but also on the effectiveness of its governance system. He advised students that clean administrative practices, in both the tax and customs sectors, directly impact global confidence in Indonesia. Therefore, discipline and integrity are non-negotiable values that future state financial managers must firmly uphold.
Amid global challenges such as supply chain shifts, tariff wars, and geopolitical dynamics, the government is required to be more adaptive. Purbaya emphasized that although technology and systems can be purchased or developed through training, integrity is a moral value that must be built internally and consistently, even in situations without supervision.
Furthermore, Purbaya instructed PKN STAN students to understand that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) is not merely a collection of numbers in a table. For him, the APBN represents the state's presence for the public. As future guardians of the public trust, students are expected to stand at the forefront of maintaining fiscal credibility for a more resilient future for Indonesia.
