The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) is working to undergo a comprehensive transformation of the national sports ecosystem. This strategic step was taken through participation in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States, a forum that provides deep insights into global-scale professional sports governance.
The President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, stated that the United States is an ideal benchmark for Indonesia. The success of the US in maintaining its position in the top three of the Olympic standings is believed to be inseparable from its integrated development system, starting from early-age scouting, youth athlete development, up to the elite level.
According to Okto, Indonesia has great potential with a population of 280 million. To maximize this potential, reinforcement is needed in various vital pillars, including sport science, transparent funding management, sports marketing, and the involvement of the academic world as a hub for future talent development.
The expected transformation includes improving organizational governance (good governance) and strengthening the sports industry. By adopting the cross-sector integration model applied in the United States, NOC Indonesia is committed to creating a more supportive ecosystem for athletes to achieve success on the international stage.
