A joint team from various cross-sectoral agencies has been deployed to conduct an intensive search operation for two hikers reported missing in the Mount Piramid area, Curahdami District, Bondowoso Regency. This rescue effort involves tactical coordination between the Bondowoso Regency Police (Polres), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and local volunteer groups.
The two missing individuals have been identified as Hj. Maliya Finda (51), a resident of Darmo Sub-district, Wonokromo District, Surabaya, and Erfan Nasrul Laili, a local mountain guide from Traktakan Village, Wonosari District, Bondowoso. They reportedly headed to the hiking site on a borrowed motorcycle before losing contact.
A crucial lead regarding the hikers' last known location was captured in photos taken by the Head of the Curahdami Community Health Center (Puskesmas), Dr. Pong Hariadi Susetya, who crossed paths with them near the summit of Mount Piramid around 9:45 AM WIB. The visual evidence and testimony from the healthcare official have become vital clues for the rescue team to map search coordinates.
Bondowoso Police Public Relations Chief, Inspector Bobby Dwi Siswanto, explained that the search strategy this time incorporates evaluations from previous similar cases on Mount Piramid, which is known for its extreme topography. The deployment of personnel and determination of priority zones are being finalized, while prioritizing the safety of the entire search team.
To ensure a smooth operation, a main coordination post has been established in Tegal Tengah Hamlet, Poncogati Sub-district. Meanwhile, police personnel are stationed at Post 1 to screen joining volunteers and coordinate emergency medical assistance, including keeping ambulance units on standby for immediate evacuation.
