The search operation for two teenagers from Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, who were reported missing in the Mount Bismo area, Wonosobo Regency, has been officially extended for the next three days. This decision was made after an eight-day search operation up to Thursday (9/7/2026) yielded no significant results regarding the whereabouts of Arifin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15).
Wonosobo Basarnas Post Coordinator, Dani Fitra Maulana, stated that despite maximum efforts, they have not found any significant clues. Therefore, the search strategy is now focused on high-difficulty areas, particularly vertical cliff faces and the surrounding waterfall areas suspected to be critical points.
To support the effectiveness of the search, Basarnas has reinforced field personnel by bringing in two tracking dogs (K9) from Semarang. Additionally, the use of aerial technology has been increased by deploying two drone units to conduct scans from above. The team is also equipped with over 200 meters of rope access equipment to reach cliff walls that cannot be accessed manually by the evacuation team.
A total of 100 joint SAR personnel have been deployed and divided into three operational units to scour the terrain, which features very dense vegetation. The team is working intensively from morning till night to minimize risks and maximize the search area. A thorough evaluation is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday to determine the next steps in this humanitarian operation.
