The South Lampung Regency Government is taking preventive measures to address the dynamic volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau. Through intensive inter-agency coordination, the local government is committed to strengthening the disaster mitigation system to ensure the safety of residents, especially those living along coastal areas.
The Chief Executive of the South Lampung Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Maturidi, emphasized that these steps involve cross-sector synergy, ranging from the military (TNI), police (Polri), search and rescue (Basarnas), to technical agencies such as the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG). This coordination aims to refine emergency response procedures and ensure that all supporting infrastructure and facilities function optimally under standby conditions.
According to Maturidi, although the current eruptive activity is a natural energy release phenomenon, the government remains vigilant and measured. Mitigation efforts are focused not only on personnel readiness but also on ensuring that evacuation routes and assembly points at the village level are in a state of readiness whenever needed.
In addition to technical aspects, the government also stresses the importance of accurate public communication. The public is urged to remain calm and only refer to official information regarding the status of Mount Anak Krakatau to avoid the spread of hoaxes. Sub-district heads and village chiefs have also been instructed to conduct periodic checks on disaster signage in their respective areas.
