The Serang Regency Government in Banten, along with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), has offered safety assurances for tourists planning to vacation in the Anyer and Cinangka beach areas. Although Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) is currently at Level III or Alert status, relevant authorities emphasized that the condition of tourist destinations on the Serang coast remains conducive to visitors.
Vice Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, firmly dismissed public concerns over rumors of a major eruption circulating on social media. He confirmed that the video showing a powerful eruption was false information or a hoax. He urged the public not to be affected by the disinformation and to proceed with their family vacation plans as usual.
Support for the statement came from Deny Mardiono, an officer at the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post. He explained that the hazard zone is set within a three-kilometer radius from the eruption center. Meanwhile, the distance between the eruption point and the beach tourism areas in Anyer, Cinangka, and Carita is 42 kilometers away, making the reach of volcanic material into these areas extremely unlikely.
Furthermore, visual monitoring currently shows subdued volcanic activity, with only thin plumes of smoke reaching heights of five to ten meters. PVMBG is committed to updating mountain activity data every six hours. Members of the public and tourism stakeholders are advised to independently check official information via the Magma Indonesia application or the official Geological Agency website for accurate and reliable data.
