The Bandung City Government (Pemkot Bandung) has stated its commitment to ensuring that the entire management transition process of the Bandung Zoo proceeds in accordance with the applicable legal framework. The city government stressed that its involvement in this phase is supervisory to ensure transparency and accountability in the cooperation.
The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, explained that the local government intentionally takes a neutral stance on the commercial aspects or business agreements between the parties involved. Pemkot Bandung's main focus is to ensure that the entire business structure planned by the management complies with applicable laws and regulations before the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) document is ratified.
"The planning has entered the stage of business calculation. From the government's perspective, the most important thing is that whatever business decisions are made must comply with regulations. As Mayor, I refrain from entering the business deal itself, but ensure that all agreements meet existing regulatory provisions," Farhan stated on Sunday (7/5/2026).
So far, the administrative process shows positive progress. The winning bidder has fulfilled their initial financial obligation by paying an annual contribution of IDR 4.3 billion. This payment was made promptly, just two days after the announcement of the winning bidder, reflecting a serious commitment from the third party.
Moving forward, the Bandung City Government will work to finalize all remaining administrative requirements. Farhan expressed optimism that if all regulatory aspects and business interests reach common ground, the signing of the PKS can be fully realized throughout July 2026.
