A progressive step has been taken by PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) to maintain the sustainability of national energy production. This Pertamina subsidiary has officially implemented Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) technology based on the polymer flooding method at the Rama Field, an offshore oil and gas working area managed by Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES). This move marks a new milestone as it is the first implementation of offshore CEOR technology in Indonesia to optimize oil and gas fields that have entered a mature phase.

This initiative was realized thanks to a strategic synergy between the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Pertamina, PHE OSES, and the Elnusa Group. The collaboration aims to increase the recovery factor, extend the productive life of the field, and support the achievement of the national oil lifting target. The start of this project was marked by the first polymer injection ceremony held on July 8, 2026.

In its implementation, PT Elnusa Petrofin, as a subsidiary of Elnusa, plays a crucial role as an integrated solution provider. The company is fully responsible for providing polymer materials, operating the Polymer Injection Unit (PIU), and managing direct operations in the field. This success not only proves the technical capabilities of the Elnusa Group but also paves the way for the application of similar technology in other oil and gas fields across the country.

Corporate Secretary of PT Elnusa Tbk, Rustam Aji, emphasized that this first implementation of offshore CEOR strengthens Elnusa's position in the national upstream oil and gas industry transformation. According to him, this project proves that local innovation is capable of providing high value-added solutions while addressing the challenges of declining oil and gas production.

Moving forward, Elnusa is committed to replicating the success of this technology in various other oil and gas blocks in Indonesia. Through close collaboration and sustainable technology capacity development, the company is optimistic that it can make a more significant contribution to national energy security and sovereignty.
