Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has officially established a strategic partnership with one of Vietnam's technology giants, CT Group Corporation. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which took place at the ITB Rectorate Building, Bandung, on Tuesday (16/7/2026). This cooperation aims to align academic research capacity with industrial needs to trigger technological innovation with a broad impact in Southeast Asia.
Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., welcomed this cross-border collaboration. He emphasized that the partnership opens up great opportunities for the development of strategic technologies, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the concept of Low-Altitude Economy (LAE). In addition, the focus of the cooperation also covers vital technological components such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), batteries, and the strengthening of the regional manufacturing ecosystem.
According to Tatacipta, Indonesia has abundant natural resources, including nickel, cobalt, and manganese which are crucial for future battery production. Through the synergy of ITB's research and CT Group's global industrial network, both parties are optimistic that they can create economic added value and strengthen the competitiveness of the ASEAN region on the global stage.
Echoing this sentiment, Chairman of CT Group Corporation, Tran Kim Chung, highlighted the strategic position of ASEAN, which accounts for nearly a third of the world's economy. He stated that mastering cutting-edge technology is an important foundation for the region's prosperity. The cooperation with ITB is seen as a concrete first step towards building a future technology ecosystem.
In addition to focusing on research and commercialization of technology products, this collaboration also targets the education and human resource development sectors. ITB students will have broad opportunities to participate in industrial internship programs, industry-based final projects, scholarships, and direct recruitment opportunities. Both institutions also plan to establish joint laboratories, innovation hubs, and business incubators to support the growth of domestic technology startups.
