Indonesian edible bird's nest (EBN) company, Yan Taitai, officially announced a comprehensive business model transformation to expand its market penetration in China. The company is now shifting from a conventional industry chain supplier to an innovative service provider covering the entire EBN industry ecosystem.
President of Yan Taitai Group, Li Li, explained that this change marks a transition from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) model to a deeper strategic framework of cooperation. The company's main focus going forward is integrated empowerment for businesses of all scales, from startups to established industry players, through a three-tier technical service architecture that encompasses testing, customized R&D, and co-creation.
As a concrete step, Yan Taitai has formed strategic partnerships with renowned educational institutions in China, such as East China University of Science and Technology and Jiangnan University. This collaboration is realized through the construction of joint laboratories aimed at accelerating the research and development cycle, from raw material verification to product efficacy registration.
The company has also operated a smart manufacturing base in Fengxian District, Shanghai, and is currently preparing the development of a second-stage industrial park. This facility will serve as a research hub through the "Big Health Food Research Institute," functioning as an innovation platform and a more efficient global distribution service.
On the upstream side, Yan Taitai launched the "Five-Year Expansion Plan for Indonesian Bird's Nest Houses" targeting the connection of 500 standardized swiftlet houses. This initiative is designed to create an end-to-end workflow that ensures strict product traceability from farmers in Indonesia to consumer tables in China.
Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, welcomed this move. He considers Yan Taitai's strategy a crucial new benchmark to encourage the Indonesian bird's nest industry to prioritize quality over mere export quantity, while also strengthening sustainable bilateral economic cooperation.
