Perhutani Surakarta Forest Management Unit (KPH) has officially renewed its cooperation with the Karanganyar Regency Regional Public Company (PUD) Aneka Usaha in managing nature tourism in the Mount Lawu area. This strategic step was marked by the signing of an addendum to the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) at the PUD Aneka Usaha Karanganyar Office on Thursday (16/7/2026).
This new agreement is a follow-up to the previous PKS signed last March. This step also refers to the results of the re-measurement by the Forest Management Regional Office (PHW) II Yogyakarta, which established the definitive area of the nature tourism environmental service utilization zone in the region at 7.599 hectares.
One of the key points in this addendum is the adjustment of the revenue-sharing scheme from the sale of admission tickets for hiking trails. For the Cetho, Pringgodani, and Saraswati Temple trails, a revenue share of 38 percent for Perhutani and 62 percent for PUD Aneka Usaha was agreed upon. Meanwhile, for the hiking trail via Cemoro Kandang, the revenue share is set at 25 percent for Perhutani and 75 percent for PUD Aneka Usaha.
The Administrator of KPH Surakarta, Agus Supriyanto, explained that this collaboration is an important foundation for realizing professional, transparent, and environmentally friendly tourism management. He hopes that this cooperation will not only increase the competitiveness of the destination but also bring tangible economic benefits to the communities around the forest without neglecting ecological aspects.
Echoing this sentiment, the Director of PUD Aneka Usaha Karanganyar, Samidi, viewed this synergy as a tactical step to boost the region's leading tourism sector. Through more integrated management, both parties are optimistic that the Mount Lawu tourism area can provide the best and safest experience for tourists while supporting regional revenue.
