The Sinjai Regency Government showed a progressive step in advancing the sports sector by holding direct coordination at the office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, Monday (6/7/2026). Acting Regent of Sinjai, Hj. Ratnawati Arif, personally led the delegation consisting of heads of relevant agencies and the Chairman of KONI Sinjai Regency.

This strategic meeting focused on synchronizing the drafting and implementation of the Regional Sports Design (DOD) in Sinjai. Head of the Sinjai Communication, Information, and Encryption Office, Hasir Ahmad, stated that the DOD is a master plan instrument for sports for the 2024–2045 period, designed as a derivative of the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) to be more relevant to regional characteristics.

The DOD document covers five main pillars of development, namely community sports, educational sports, achievement enhancement, inclusivity for people with disabilities, and the development of sports industry and tourism. This step is expected to serve as a strong foundation so that athlete training and the provision of supporting facilities can run in a more directed and sustainable manner.

On the other hand, KONI Sinjai fully supports the central government's efforts to accommodate the need for representative infrastructure and facilities for regional athletes. Chairman of KONI Sinjai, Rachman, assessed that this synergy is crucial for improving the quality of athlete development at the local level.

As a form of concrete commitment, the Sinjai Regency Youth and Sports Service is currently accelerating the preparation of administrative documents and supporting regulations. Head of the Youth and Sports Service, Dr. Mansyur, emphasized that the main priority right now is finalizing the Regent Regulation on DOD, which will serve as the legal basis for implementing comprehensive sports policy in Sinjai Regency.
