The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has once again demonstrated his political influence by launching a safari agenda across several regions. After making an initial visit to Bandar Lampung for the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPD on June 27, 2026, the former head of state is scheduled to continue similar trips to East Nusa Tenggara and West Java.
During his visit to Lampung, Jokowi not only attended internal party events but also directly interacted with the public through impromptu market visits (blusukan) and dialogues with MSME actors. His presence was also greeted with the conferment of a traditional honorary title from the Lampung Pepadun community, highlighting his personal closeness with local residents.
Jokowi emphasized that this step of returning to the field is an effort to strengthen the party structure down to the grassroots level. He openly expressed his readiness to go directly to various provinces, regencies, and cities to assist with PSI's consolidation. Jokowi urged cadres to work hard, maximize the role of social media, and build networks that reach down to the RT/RW (neighborhood) level.
This political activity has triggered various reactions from other major parties. The Deputy General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prasetyo Hadi, welcomed the move positively, viewing it as normal activity for a national figure. Nevertheless, he emphasized that his party currently prefers to focus on the development agenda rather than speculating about the future political landscape.
On the other hand, PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani responded to the safari as a constitutional right of every citizen. However, she stressed the importance of maintaining national stability amid current global uncertainties, while expressing hope that every political move continues to maintain a conducive climate for the broader public.
