The Jember Regency Government, through the Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Task Force (Satgas ITR), followed up on findings of serious violations in the limestone mining area of Mount Sadeng, Puger District. A sudden inspection involving the Jember Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) on Wednesday (9/7/26) revealed massive non-compliance regarding permits and corporate fiscal obligations.
The Head of the Regional Revenue Verification and Control Division at Bapenda Jember, Arief Yudho Prasetyo, revealed that of the 21 companies operating in the area, only seven were recorded as having active permits. The rest were found to be continuing operations even though their exploration permits had expired.
Not only a matter of legality, but the regional revenue sector was also affected. Bapenda noted that there are 10 companies in arrears for the Non-Metal Minerals and Rocks (MBLB) tax, with a total value reaching IDR 1.6 billion for the period of January to June 2026. One of the companies, PT Pertama Mina Sutra Perkasa, was recorded to have tax arrears reaching hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Yudho emphasized that his office has issued a firm warning for all companies to immediately settle their tax obligations. In addition, the findings regarding operations without valid permits will be further coordinated with relevant agencies to determine the necessary law enforcement steps.
On the other hand, the companies affected by the inspection, including PT Pertama Mina Sutra Perkasa, stated that they are currently in the process of applying for the extension of their Mining Business License (IUP), which expired in June 2025. The ITR Task Force is committed to continuing its monitoring of the Mount Sadeng area to ensure that economic activities in the region remain within the applicable legal corridors.
