The game of dominoes, long known primarily as a leisure activity, has now officially transformed into a competitive sport in Jepara Regency. This initial step was marked by the hosting of the inaugural domino competition at the Community Activity Center in Bangsri Village, Bangsri District, on June 19–20, 2026.

The Chairman of Mahple Club and head of the organizing committee, Heru Setyawan, revealed that this initiative aims to change the public stigma surrounding dominoes. According to him, under a legitimate federation, dominoes is now being steered toward developing the potential of athletes who rely on calculation skills, strategy, and high concentration.

The official sport status of dominoes was confirmed by the Central KONI on May 21, 2026, and it now operates under the Indonesian Domino Sports Federation (Orado). Full support has also come from the Indonesian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, providing a foundation for regional athlete development.

The high enthusiasm of Jepara residents was evident from how quickly the 12-team quota was filled shortly before registration officially closed. In the inaugural tournament, the Nyidamsari Team secured first place, followed by the Perumnas Team in second, and the Guyangan Racing Team in third.

Moving forward, the organizers are committed to conducting continuous and intensive socialization to attract more participants. This official recognition is expected to serve as momentum for local domino enthusiasts to pursue the sport professionally and systematically.
