The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has stated its commitment to continuous improvement in organizing the Hajj pilgrimage. During the National Working Conference (Rakernas) for the Evaluation of Hajj Operations 1447 H/2026 CE, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, emphasized that services in Mina and pilgrim health aspects will be the main focus of future improvements.
Although this year's Hajj operations were judged to have made significant progress, with the mortality rate successfully reduced by 25 percent, the government feels that the figure still needs to be brought down further. Therefore, strengthening health readiness (istithaah) standards for prospective pilgrims is a crucial agenda item that will be continuously optimized to ensure the safety and fitness of pilgrims in the Holy Land.
In addition to health issues, the Minister specifically highlighted technical challenges in services within the Mina area. He stressed the need for concrete steps to enhance pilgrim comfort in that region, while ensuring that all digital innovations, such as the implementation of the Nusuk card and quota management systems, will be continuously evaluated to achieve maximum impact.
Furthermore, this series of Rakernas events was followed by a retreat agenda for officials of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The activity was designed to enhance human resource capacity while strengthening internal coordination and unity so that future Hajj services can be carried out more professionally and humanely.
Closing the agenda, the Minister expressed deep appreciation to all involved parties, including field officers (PPIH) and support from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). This spirit of cross-sector collaboration is expected to be maintained to provide a better worship experience for all Indonesian pilgrims.
