The Deli Serdang Regency Government Square was packed with thousands of residents on Friday (July 3, 2026) for the grand Fun Walk event. This activity was held as part of the climax of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Deli Serdang Regency while also marking the 26th anniversary of the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI).

The event, which attracted around 8,000 participants, was officially opened by the Regent of Mandailing Natal, H. Saipullah Nasution, who attended in his capacity as an APKASI executive. The public's enthusiasm was remarkably high, evidenced by the sold-out status of all participation coupons provided by the organizing committee.

The festivities grew even livelier through a series of activities such as joint gymnastics and public entertainment. To boost community enthusiasm, the organizers prepared a variety of attractive door prizes, ranging from motorcycles and electric bicycles to various electronic gadgets distributed through a lucky draw.

Assistant for General Administration of the Regional Secretariat of Deli Serdang Regency, Rudi Akmal Tambunan, expressed deep appreciation for the high level of public participation. According to him, the public's enthusiasm is not merely a recreational event, but a reflection of the spirit of unity to support future regional development.

In addition to serving as a sports hub, the event location was also used as a platform for local MSMEs to showcase their flagship products through a culinary bazaar. The synergy between the government, the private sector, and small business owners in making this celebration a success is expected to spark economic growth and strengthen collaboration toward a more advanced and prosperous Deli Serdang.
