Member of Commission E of the East Java Province Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Puguh Wiji Pamungkas, reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing the development of sports infrastructure and improving facilities for athletes in East Java. This step was taken after he held the Aspiration Gathering (Recess) agenda for the III Sitting Period of 2026 with the management and members of the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Malang City Branch.
During the meeting, PSHT members conveyed several crucial proposals. One of them is the lack of representative sports facilities in Malang City, including the absence of a special circuit or venue for roller skating. The lack of these facilities is considered to hinder the potential development of local athletes who have high achievement prospects.
Puguh, who also serves as the Secretary of the PKS Fraction in the East Java DPRD, stated his readiness to fight for the procurement of an adequate training center for PSHT Malang City. This step is expected to support the regeneration and training of pencak silat athletes to be able to compete maximally, both at national and international levels.
In addition to sports issues, this dialogue forum also highlighted the education sector. PSHT members urged the government to pay more attention to improving teacher welfare. The welfare of educators is considered a main pillar in creating a conducive and high-quality teaching and learning process in schools.
The increasingly complex traffic congestion issue in Malang City was also a warm topic of discussion. The legislator from the Malang Raya constituency explained that the high daily mobility—contributed by workers, students, tourists, and the presence of around 350,000 university students—has significantly burdened the city's road capacity.
As a long-term solution, Puguh encouraged the local government to strengthen the public transportation system. He also recalled the urgency of the "Angkot Halokes" program (special school public transport) that he initiated in 2022 to reduce traffic congestion caused by student mobility on school days. All of these public aspirations are ensured to be brought up for further discussion at the East Java parliament level.
