The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora) has collaborated with the Faculty of Sports Science at Semarang State University (FIK UNNES) to strengthen the national athlete development system. In this collaboration, the Professor of FIK UNNES, Prof. Dr. Tandiyo Rahayu, M.Pd., was appointed as the main speaker in the National Talent Management agenda through the 2026 Sports Education Personnel Training.
The event, which took place from July 29 to August 1, 2026, was initiated by the Deputy for Sports Cultivation at Kemenpora. Prof. Tandiyo's presence served as an important momentum to share strategic ideas on talent management formulation and the improvement of sports educators' competence in various regions, who act as the vanguard for early childhood athlete cultivation.
During the training, participants consisting of academics, practitioners, and policymakers were equipped with a deep understanding of a sustainable sports development ecosystem. The main focus was directed at early talent identification methodologies to produce competitive sports human resources (HR) on both national and international stages.
FIK UNNES's active contribution is also aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This partnership program directly supports the realization of quality education (SDG 4), the improvement of public health through physical activity (SDG 3), and the strengthening of institutional collaboration (SDG 17). On the other hand, this HR capacity building is expected to open up new job opportunities while driving science-based sports innovation (sport science).
