Officers from the Tanah Karo Resort Police (Polres) moved quickly to investigate the unnatural death of a hiker near the Mount Sibayak Tourism Retribution Post. To uncover the motive behind the tragic incident, police have detained nine individuals for intensive questioning regarding suspected assault.
Head of Public Relations at Karo Police, Assistant Police Commissioner (AKP) Pedoman Maha, revealed that the investigation began following a public report about a casualty at the scene last Friday. Following up on the report, an investigation team was immediately dispatched to the crime scene to conduct a physical examination and gather preliminary evidence.
Prior to detaining these nine people, the police had questioned six witnesses, including managers of the parking facility around the tourist area. The number of people questioned is expected to increase as the field investigation develops.
As of now, Karo Police are withholding detailed information regarding the identity of the witnesses and the complete chronology of the event to ensure the smooth progress of the ongoing legal process. Police emphasized that suspects will be named as soon as all evidence is deemed sufficient and meets criminal elements.
