The North Sumatra Provincial Government is increasingly intensifying its efforts to expand the reach of the Free Health Checkup (CKG) Program for all levels of society. As of mid-2026, a total of 3.2 million residents have received health screening services distributed across 619 Puskesmas (community health center) units in various regencies and cities throughout the province.
The North Sumatra Health Agency has now set an ambitious target of reaching 46% of the total population, or around 7.3 million people, to receive CKG services throughout 2026. This step was taken following the successful achievement of the program in the previous year, where North Sumatra successfully ranked fourth nationally with a service coverage of 22.56%.
Head of the Public Health Division of the North Sumatra Health Agency, Hery Valona Bonatua Ambarita, emphasized that this target increase is being carried out gradually to ensure service quality is maintained. He added that this program is a testament to the Provincial Government's commitment to early detection of various potential diseases in the community before residents' health conditions deteriorate.
Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, has specifically instructed governments at the regency and city levels to optimize services. Full support from local authorities is considered crucial to ensuring that the entire public can access health facilities easily and equitably.
In addition to relying on the CKG program, the North Sumatra Provincial Government continues to strengthen Universal Health Coverage (UHC) coverage. The synergy between these programs is expected to improve public health standards overall and sustainably across all regions of North Sumatra.
