The management of the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pandeglang, Banten, has officially projected the "Tanjung Lesung Fun Bike" recreational cycling event as an annual tourism agenda. This step follows the high enthusiasm of hundreds of cyclists who conquered the 18-kilometer route in its latest edition.
Tanjung Lesung's Operations Director, Ivonne Anggraini, explained that this recreational sports event holds a strong appeal for the national cycling community. Through consistent organization and the development of more challenging routes in the future, the activity is expected to strengthen Tanjung Lesung's image as a premier sports tourism destination.
In this year's event, participants started their journey from the Panimbang Toll Road exit and finished at the Lalassa Beach Club. The choice of this starting point, according to Tanjung Lesung's Operations Director Widi Widiasmanto, carries high hopes that the Panimbang Toll Road infrastructure project can be completed soon to facilitate tourist accessibility to the west coast region of Banten.
Tanjung Lesung's immense potential as an eco-friendly cycling destination was also praised by the advisor of Bike to Work (B2W) Indonesia, Poetoet Soedarjanto. Going forward, B2W Indonesia, together with Rumah Sepeda Indonesia, is committed to designing a larger-scale event that integrates the empowerment of local MSMEs and zero-waste nature conservation campaigns.
The plan to scale up the event was welcomed by the Regent of Pandeglang, Raden Dewi Setiani. The local government views the synergy between road infrastructure development and recreational sports activities like this as a crucial key to reviving the multi-segment tourism sector and driving the economic growth of the local community.
