A massive search operation for Arifin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15), two teenagers from Krinjing Hamlet, Wonosobo, has ended in tragedy. After being declared missing for nearly two weeks, both were found lifeless in a valley area near Curug Tiga, Mount Bismo, on Sunday (12/7/2026).

This tragic incident began on June 30, 2026, when the two teenagers left home without permission. Family anxiety peaked as one of the victims, Yufaidin, was known to have gone without adequate hiking gear, wearing only thin clothes and without enough supplies to brave the mountainous terrain.

Local authorities immediately coordinated with SAR agencies after independent search efforts by residents yielded no results. A joint SAR operation involving around 250 personnel from Basarnas, BPBD, TNI, Polri, and volunteer groups was deployed to comb through the densely vegetated and extremely steep forest area of Mount Bismo.

Severe challenges on the ground forced rescue teams to deploy advanced technology, including thermal drones (UAVs) to detect body heat and tracking dog units (K9). Although the operation was extended beyond the standard seven-day duration, the SAR team finally made a breakthrough in the Curug Tiga area after reinforcing their sweeping strategy with the assistance of expert personnel from the Semarang SAR Office.
