The West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) confirmed that the forest and land fire that struck the Mount Guntur area in Garut Regency has now been successfully extinguished completely. Joint personnel have been deployed to the location to ensure there are no remaining embers that could potentially trigger a recurring fire.
The fire that affected the mountain slopes was swiftly addressed by a joint team consisting of personnel from BBKSDA, Garut BPBD, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and local fire-care community groups. Steep terrain and dry vegetation posed significant challenges during the extinguishing process, but tactical cooperation successfully localized the flames.
Following the extinguishing efforts, BBKSDA urged hikers and nearby residents to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could spark fires, such as recklessly discarding cigarette butts or leaving campfires unattended. Periodic monitoring continues to be carried out to preserve the ecosystem in the nature reserve area.
